Adding photos

JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos. Each can be up to 100 MB, and HEIC (the format iPhones use) up to 20 MB. Videos cannot be added yet.

Your original is kept exactly as you added it, byte for byte. Guests see smaller copies made from it, and can download the original.

  1. Open an album and press Add photos.
  2. Choose a folder to put them in, or make one with New folder.
  3. Press Choose photos. On a phone the button says “Choose from your phone”. On a computer you can also press Choose a whole folder, or drop photos anywhere on the page.
  4. Keep the page open until it says the photos are added.

If your connection drops or the page closes, choose the same photos again. The ones already in are skipped.

Photos from an iPhone are usually HEIC. Add them as they are: the gallery reads HEIC and makes copies every guest’s phone can show.

Choosing from your phone’s library is fine for a few photos. For a photographer’s full-size set, a computer is quicker.

After a photo is added, the gallery makes the copies guests see, then describes and tags it. This happens while the page is open.

A line above the photos tells you when some are still waiting, with a button that says Get it ready (or Get them ready). Press it, and keep the page open.

The gallery gives each photo a few tags, such as Dancing or Kids, and guests can look through them. The tags are chosen by the site from your tag list, and it can get one wrong, so look them over. See Tags for how to correct them, several photos at a time.

You can change the list in Settings, then Tags. After you change it, an album offers to describe its photos again.

You can also add a caption to any photo, and change its tags, in the photo’s own window. Open it with the photo’s “•••”.
